The best-kept old town in the north, 365 cypress-lined steps up to the Calvari chapel, and four coves under a cliff a quarter of an hour away. Steps at eight in the morning or in the last hour of light — there is no shade on them. Sunday is market day: park at the Pont Romà and walk in.
